Germany’s 16 states have appealed to the federal government for the right to use Segways on sidewalks and in bike lanes. German police and other workers who do a lot of walking are major advocates of the Segway and have given high praise to the PT. Under German law, express approval under its federal road law is needed for the Segway to be legally ridden on public streets.
